Thanksgiving is almost here. Wednesday is Bentley's Thanksgiving, which is hands down my FAVORITE MEAL of the year. I have been salivating thinking about it since Halloween ended. Becky and I are gonna make some delicious dishes together, I have been wanting to do Yams from scratch, and hopefully I will be able to find an interesting recipe. yummmmm. CAN NOT WAIT.

this week is very weird. I am house sitting at my Dad's which is in the North West part of town. I hate this part of town, and being deserted there really affects my mood and overall state of health. I eat crap food, watch cable, get nothing done and sleep horribly. The dogs are cute and make up for all this, but Charlie, the puppy pisses on EVERYTHING and despite my greater efforts to clean it all, the house is STINKY, adding to my demise.

I have only been able to be at my place for an hour or two everyday. Poor poor Gustav. He is currently planted in my lap and sprawled out across my wrists as I type this. He truly is a mama's boy.

lack of money and work woes have gotten me down right now. I came home wanting to get my homework for tuesday done, but I am so down in the dumps that I am just gonna get a burrito and watch freaks and geeks...

anyways, I try to live my life by the golden rule, keep my complaints to minimum and count my blessings daily, but, every now and then I am reminded that I am not immune to being an asshole. I hate realizing I have hurt someones feelings, which is why I spend most of my time painstakingly trying to avoid it at all costs. but i am human, and i mess up sometimes. i feel like shit...

I wish I could say the feast of Wednesday will be a cure all for my grief. Only time will tell.

getting the day off for federal holidays will never, not be THE BEST.

played an intense game of Pictionary last night with the gang, and was able to SLEEP IN today!!! It was glorious! I put a blanket over my window to keep allllll light out (which I am usually scared to do because I am worried I will never wake up).

woke up around noon and met up with Becky for lunch. Old friends catching up over pho and Vietnamese sandwiches... It was just lovely.

Afterwords I got a bunch of stuff together and headed to Bookman's where I was actually offered quite a bit for a change. about 150 in credit, but unfortunately that only meant 43 in cash (which is what I had gone for...) So I used a bit of the credit to snatch some magazines, books and records and took the rest of the scraps in cash.

I also had time to finally do a little project in my yard!

The rest of my one day vacation has included a yummy meal, a face mask and kitten cuddles...

back to the real world tomorrow...

Kanye West; Runaway

I have never been a closeted Kanye fan. Sure, he is prick. A talented one. I still think seeing him live was one of the greatest shows I have ever been to. Many of you might disagree with me, but I think if anything Kanye's artistic intuition and exquisite taste is worth noting. I especially appreciative that he, unlike MANY OTHERS give credit when credit is due. His blog, which I have followed for many years is basically him paying homage to all the artists (decorative, literature, high art, musicians, and otherwise) who inspire him.

Runaway his highly anticipated music video/short film does not fall short of my personal artistic expectations for Mr. West. To put it simply, it is beautiful.

A bit contrived, a bit too much rehashed imagery, a bit too much male gaze, a bit too much dialogue (in my opinion, it needs none, the music and imagery is enough). It may be a bit of all these things, but it is a WHOLE lotta beautiful. So I am letting all that go.

I see this as Kanye attempting to evoke his inner Barney. To me the comparisons between Runaway and Cremaster Cycle were undeniable. Hybrid creatures, birds eye sweeping shots, off kilter imagery and/or props, cuts to unrelated scenes, awkward moments of frozen interaction, and more indescribable similarities. This may be completely coincidental, but hardly ignorable.

While there may be many reasons to hate or discredit Kanye, hopefully this is one reason to reconsider. (I mean, come on, he wrote a song admitting his douchebag-ness)

Please watch it, and PLEASE tell me what you think.

EXCITING NEWS

I am not sure if I have mentioned this on my blog before but my momma is a MAJOR måJø® BEATLES fan... Like insane fanatic status. Growing up, our living room was basically a living shrine/museum. Dolls, albums, posters, tapestries, prints, collectors plates, etc...

It wasn't until we sold our house and moved about 2 years ago that she found her long lost "Beatles Box" (which she had assumed was lost in the move nearly 16 years earlier). This box includes hundreds of posters, magazines, newspaper clippings, photos, collector cards AND her concert ticket from the 1966 Shea Stadium concert!

Of course, she was more than thrilled to have finally found this box, but more importantly she was able to really share it with me for the first time.

I recently asked her to let me borrow the box. I have been planning on archiving the material and organizing it for her for a long time, and this year I am doing so for her birthday.

Little did I know... this is going to take forever!!! And in addition to making everything archivably safe, I am planning on photographing and/or scanning a great deal of it. Most of this stuff I have never seen and I imagine is very hard to find online. Thus... I will be starting a NEW TUMBLR just for the purpose of sharing all this material.

It is going to be a lot of work, but believe me, it is gonna be worth it. There is some really amazing stuff in that box, including photos or things from a few other artists.

note: my mom's "married"/ "not married" captions on these photos, in her little 12 year old handwriting...

(I know it has been a long long time, but I have an exam tomorrow, and thus I am using blogger and this post as a distraction from my studies)

I remember first seeing her work in an issue of TOKION (i think) years back and the impression that one painting left with me has forever stuck. I was blown away by her immaculate sense of serenity blended with the romantic chaos that is, the universe. I find myself attempting to copy her color palette every time I am working on something of my own, but damn, is it impossible. Her work is also what has motivated me to experiment with water colors. She captures so beautifully the experience of one coming to terms with the insanity that is nature, possibly an experience aided by some (heavy) hallucinogens, but nonetheless, mind blowing.

I need to go camping more often...

I feel like such a negative nancy. I have been crawling around with a total grump face for the past few days. After getting rear ended twice in the past month, the first time by and cop and the second time having totaled my NEEEWWWWWW car, and NOW being injured and uber sicky, i just want to scream.

It is so frustrating knowing that all I need is time to rest and recover from the whiplash and sickiness, but as always, there is no time.

I hate house sitting.
I hate paying for parking.
I hate shitty drivers.
I hate online quizes.
I hate waiting rooms.
I hate how being sick fucks up your taste buds, and even orange juice tastes like poop.
I hate the west side.

ok, but there are many things I LOVE.

I love Bejeweled Blitz.
I love Project Runway.
I love oriental ramen with veggies and tofu.

EPIC TRIP DAY 3 & 4

day 3:

crazy cram filled day. Woke up early again to hit up the Eastern Market to start our day. Got a couple of rings and a delicious amazing lunch! Chicken penne salad, cucumbers with feta and onion, local white peaches and a fresh rustic baguette. We brought it all with us to eat at the zoo.

the best thing about visiting DC is that most things are free! Every institution associated with the Smithsonian is free to the public. It is unbelievable! The zoo is massive and has so much to see. The Small Mammal house had me so giggly and giddy with all the cute little monkeys and rodents! The reptile and invertebrate houses were so rad! My favorite was this underwater sea turtle thing that stays in one place with its mouth open waiting for food to land in it. Seriously, i waited for like 10 minutes and it didn't flinch!

and of course, you can not to go the DC zoo without seeing the Pandas! They were in their little indoor homes, most likely to avoid the INSANE humid heat. they were adorable, DUH. i guess the zoo keepers had put honey on some crates so they were pretty occupied with cleaning those up, in fact one was laying on his back with his head completely in the crate while he was licking it.

Wasn't expecting to buy any souvenirs really, but they were selling panda masks, so i caved...

After the zoo we went to New York Avenue where the National Museum for Women in the Arts is located, but it was closed which was a total bummer (I will have to go later this month), BUT they have sculptures installed in the median by Niki de Saint-Phalle for a series called Sculpture Project. I am SURE you remember that awhile back I did an ART BOMB about de Saint-Phalle and her Tir shooting pieces, but she is better known for her colorful stylized sculptures and public installations. The four temporarily on display are amazing, and I could have spent hours sitting on the median.

Afterwords, mom and I went downtown to kill time before we met up with Ariel and Jen to see, The Kids Are All Right (the movie we had missed the night before).

It was a long long day, so we went back to the hotel afterwords and crashed.

day 4:

Another early day today despite my pleas for us to sleep in, but in the end it was worth it because we got to do a lot today.

I really wanted to see the Capital so we went down there first thing. We made it all the way up to security when we found out that NO food or Drinks (and a lot of other banned items) were allowed inside. This would not have been an issue, but they were not even going to let me bring my EMPTY metal water bottle. The options were to throw it away, hide it, get a locker at a museum, or drop it off at one of our representatives office. We chose the representatives office. So we ventured off in search for Grijalva's office in the House building. Man, these buildings are so confusing. They are filled with long hallways and twisting tunnels and it took us just about forever to drop off this damn water bottle. When we finally got there my mom was chatting up his staff with her admiration for Raul and all the work he has done (NERD! haha).

well, long story, still long, but summed up... WE MADE IT BACK TO THE CAPITAL. it is beautiful. and awesome. the end.

Next we went to the National Portrait Gallery and Smithsonian Museum of American Art where we spent the remainder of our day. What a great museum, but then again you would be hard pressed to find an art museum I couldn't have a good time in. Lots of amazing stuff. Instead of telling you, I will show you... (PICS!)

We leave for NYC tomorrow so decided to call it an early night at 8, and we have been resting our feet and packing. I'm so excited for tomorrow! yarrrgggghhhh!

The museum held a portrait competition and selected about 70 works from the entries to exhibit. This was probably one of the most amazing shows I have seen in a while. There was not a single name I recognized which was so refreshing. I loved all of the works so much! No cameras were allowed and I was to mesmerized to take down names or titles, but I am gonna research online to see if I can find more information.

EPIC TRIP DAY 1 & 2

day 1:

traveling sucks, but it is a little better when you are able to travel with someone you adore and always have a good time with... Jojo is an amazing travel buddy and she even let me read her vanity fair when i got bored with SKY Mall (i love that shit! actually that makes me want to do a post on amazing things that I want from sky mall on my way home). I read an awesome article about Betsy Drake and Cary Grant doing shit loads of LSD in the 50's, pre-Timothy Leary... It even said Esther Williams hallucinated having a dick. awesome...

My mom met us at the airport and we went to the hotel to drop off stuff (i'm a notorious OVER packer) and then we went to dupont circle for dinner.

we crashed pretty hard last night despite the fact that we were 3 hours ahead of DC time.

day 2:

woke up super early, 7:30 (which would technically be 4:30 in Tucson!!!) so we could catch our super-touristy-double-decker-bus at Union Station. Ok, so I love being super nerdy and touristy, so sue me! I love monuments, I luv museums, i lurrrv taking lotsa pictures... ooooh ohh, but I hate recorded tours. they suck!

anyways, our bus is actually pretty cool because it has over 30 stops where you can get on and off as many times as you want at various monuments and sightseeing places, and it is good for two days, so we will use it again tomorrow.

First we went to Arlington Cemetery. I love this place and not just because it is where all the Kennedy boys are, but it is truly a beautiful cemetery and property, and the over all sense of calm is indescribable. I could spend days there. We were really lucky and got to see the changing of the guards at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier; it was bizarre and so insanely ritualistic but very very kewl. Also I guess Glenn Miller is buried there but i couldn't find anything saying where it was.

also, it is so unbelievably hot here. It is like 96 with %200 humidity and everyone is sweating like crazy.

ps. if you go there make sure you check out the Women in the Military Memorial. Out of the thousands of people there today, there were only a few other people who were in the women's memorial building, but it was really cool and interesting. They had some amazing postcards of vintage service women posters (i will try and post them).

Next we went to the Lincoln Memorial ( my momma's favorite). It is beautiful, and huge...

While on the mall we also went to the Korean war memorial and the Vietnam memorial (amazing!).

We only had about and hour before we had to go back to the hotel to get jo's bags before she left for her train to New Jersey, and we decided to make a rushed visit to the Museum of Native American History. It was a way short visit, but it seems like a great place and the building was beautiful.

So Jo had to go and then mom and I headed to the Smithsonian Sculpture Garden! FRIIIIIIGGGGIIN' AMAZING!!!! I am obsessed and want to spend time there when I come back after NYC. There was so much great stuff and the landscaping was dreamy and gorgeous.

I am going to spend the last 5 days of my trip with Ariel and Jen in DC, but my mom really wanted to see Ariel and meet Jen before she left so I called her up and they had the night off so we made plans to see a movie. The movie sold out so we went to Chop't and Fro-ZEN-yo (DC's BTO... delicious). It was great times and it made me even more excited for the second leg of my DC adventures! AND tomorrow we are all going to a flea market/farmers market that is supposed to be AMAZING! I can not wait!

It is kinda sad that sitting here in Tucson International waiting for my flight is the first chance in over 3 weeks I have had to sit and use the internet for more then 5 minutes uninterrupted. Airport wifi is awesome. So I thought I might take the opportunity to make a quick post in the 30 minutes I have before my flight.

I realize that I fail at blogging right now. For some reason I am so completely un-motivated to do anything blog/tumblr related. I don't get it. But my new goal is to document this summer and what better way to do it then through this blog>????

I have been working a SHIT load. like 7 days a week. It is awesome. I seriously need the money and it's nice to not be totally panicking about getting NO hours and little pay, like I normally do. Right now I am just trying to make as much mulah as I can before heading east, so I can stay as long as possible. So far I have a ticket there, and thats it... BUT I'M SO EXCITED!!!! I gets to see the fam and some good friends and my mom is taking me to see HAIR!! one of my all time favorite musicals...

Anyways, I have been equal parts lazy and productive so far during my summer break. I STILL haven't donated my car, made a doctors appt. or turned in my rental application but I have been making art! yes finally! I am feeling really good about finally having the time to work on stuff. I may be a crap artist, but I am enjoying myself and it feels really good to just be creating, i don't know.. there isn't really a better way to phrase that.

last night was erin's graduation bbq/party. I had a great great great time! Andy, Miranda and I got her flowers (they were crazy, and one was a mutant with two flowers on one stem!!!) and some champagne (we know nothing about champagne so miranda and i judged by "prettiest/classiest" label).

It was a really beautiful night. Everyone was so sweet. Miranda and I were nerds and went on Chatroullette for a bit, but it wasn't as fun as we thought it would be. BUT THEN i discovered that one of the like 100 songs on erin's NEW computer was THUNDERSTRUCK. For those of you who don't know Thunderstruck is our favorite drinking game. If you havent played, we will this summer, don't worry about it. the game was successful (we had two boys puking afterwords) and everyone was satisfied. Then somehow I ended up performing Bad Romance for Erin, and anyone who was (un)fortunate to walk into the room at that moment. I was really Drunk, and am totally regretting that now, but whatever, Erin loved it so that is all that matters. Anyways, it was such a great great night. I love that girl so much, and we got all sentimentally for a minute, but I am so glad to be able to call her one of my best friends. yay!

so yes, i got super drunk. At this point 4 beers has me crawling because it has been so long since I have REALLY drank (due to scholarly efforts). Well lets just say I had WAY more than that, and I am really regretting it right now... And we went to Taco Shop and I got a supreme quesodilla but couldn't even eat like 2 bites, so I tried eating it this morning and it is a sloshy gross mess. bummer.... I need to learn my lesson.

Alright, I gotta get out of bed and shower. Get some coffee and yummy treats tongiht or tomorrow and visit me at work!!!!!!

My last final is in two hours, and this could not be a worse time to blog, but I couldn't refrain.

The last week I have banned myself from facebook (you already knew that though), and have been forced to find internet distractions elsewhere. Anyways, you guys know how it is when your sifting through blogs and you end up on this crazy trail by clicking through peoples blogs, then clicking on their commentors, then clicking on followers or who they follow, then who knows where you end up...

I love doing this. It is how I have found so many amazing blogs to follow, and interesting, funny and intelligent people to communicate with. HOWEVER, more often then not, I am taken to peoples shitty shitty "fashion" blogs which consists of them taking an insane amount of pictures of themselves (or does someone actually take these photos for them>????? yuch). Yes you are cute, and sure your clothes are great, but this excruciatingly narcissistic method of forcing it down my throat drives me nuts. PLEASE DON'T get me wrong... sittin' in the library. trying to study. I have banned myself from Facebook (Lauren and I changed each other's passwords). It makes me unbelievably depressed that that was necessary. But it was. However, I am still prone to endless checking of blogger, tumblr and jezebel, even though after 8 nothing really gets updated. I STILL CHECK EVERY HALF HOUR. yarrrggghhhh

I've been in the library everyday since last Thursday. I don't mind this building at all, in fact I find it extremely relaxing and familiar and I am generally able to get a lot done. Lauren is the most amazing study buddy ever. We both focus relentlessly when the other is around, but are able to interject with little commentaries or giggles with out getting completely distracted. She is gone for the night, her final was at 8, and I am so lonely and struggling to focus. I miss her...

My stomach is making the STRANGEST noises right now and I am pretty sure it is freaking out the dude next to me. sorry buddy. I wish I could get a real meal right now but that would involve packing up, voyaging somewhere and coming back. I just dont have the energy, time or money for that, so I'll nosh on the last of my Trader Joe's Granola (yummmmm, BTW).

I am really at peace with this week, a complete turn around from last weeks chaos. There is a lot to get done so I can not take it lightly, but I am trying to focus on eating well, getting sleep and focusing energy on finishing this semester right...

I am so bored with the material for my Northern Baroque class, but I find the anatomical studies reaaalllyyyy awesome. To bad they won't be included on the exam, but i'll share anyways...

I realize that checking up on this blog (which I KNOW is a part of all of your daily regimens) has gone to waste over the past few months, but that will all change soon!

I have successfully finished my 4 research papers. (I have written 61 pages in the past 3 weeks)!!!!! I can not believe I did it, but I did, and I could not be prouder of myself. I have never been that proud of a person. I do what I need to do, but often it is last minute and not to the best of my capabilities, so it feels excellent to be especially proud of something I poured my heart into. So yes, for once, I AM PROUD, and I am shouting it from the roof tops.

I wont bore any of you to tears with posting my papers, but if for whatever reason, you are especially interested or you are my mother, I will send you my papers.

Summer is almost here (the papers are done but I have 4 finals this week)!!!!! I could not be more excited. I got a taste of whats to come on Wednesday (CINCO DE MAYO!). We went swimming at Highland Vista (my first swim time in MONTHS, and i realized my first time swimming in that pool with a bathing suit). We started the night off right with margaritas, tequila soaked strawberries, dos equis, and some greens. Then we went to Nile's house for more friends, fun and laughter and of course, MORE BEER. I had a great time and was glad to just relax and not worry for the first time in months. But then I woke up Thursday with the realization that I am not done. boo hooooooo.

It is a damn good thing I love my classes and everything I am learning otherwise I would be such a Negative Nancy.

I love you all and i will see you in a week, when I can really come out of the school shell!

Margaritas and pool time is going to be standard practice this summer!

As an agnostic jew, easter has always meant one thing for me...

PEEPS.

yes, I know the rest of the world hates them and thinks they are the scum of the earth, but that just means more for moi!

While I love peeps, i will say that easter is the only appropriate time for them, Fuck this halloween, valentines, christmas Peep bullshit. It is just wrong.

So once a year, I eat peeps.

My mom is fully aware of my love for these treats and has always taken it upon herself to be the main benefactor behind my obsession. Thus, it was beautiful to come home today (i am dogsitting all week) to a bag of peeps on my front porch!

also, to add to my strangeness, I only eat peeps stale. (yeah i know, its weird, but i have actually met other people who do this!) So my mom buys them a few days early and cuts a slit in the plastic.

So last night was Mr. Free's vinyl release party at Plush.

Erin went as my date, for old times sake. We recollected, like little old ladies, about the good ol' days of weekly bus shows.

"ooohh yes, I remember that first bus show like it was yesterday...."

she hadn't been to any of their shows in at least a year, so she was super stoked.

The show was great. The boys played an amazing set and were summoned back for an encore.

I really am just soooooo proud of these guys. They are so amazingly talented and their passion and energy is infectous. They may think that this is no big deal, but to me it is. I may sound like a sentimental sap right now, but it is true.

also, i have been extremely bored with attempting to listen to new music lately. I def. go through phases with this. i am totally in a dry spell right now. I honestly don't have the energy and i just don't really care. I am sooooooo content with right now with abba, CASH, Diamond and Parton.

i DO however love going to live shows. And there is honestly nothing more i love than going to see a band i have heard very little of and falling in love with them during their live set. This is why i love Andy. It took very little convincing for him to get me to see THEE OH SEES with him last week. I had heard at least one song of this band but was willing to hear more.

THE SHOW WAS AMAZING. I love when bands choose to play on the floor of solar culture instead of the stage. their energy is unmatchable. I can not imagine listening to them through a zip file i ripped offline and falling even close to as hard as i did for them live. tru tru love. (also the drummer was sooooooo dreamy, so, yes, luv on many levels)

of course, i needed to seal the deal with this gem. thats also the beauty of finding love at a live show, when you want to buy an album you get to look for the prettiest one! cause, hell if you know which one is best! naturally, i bought this beauty (which andy reassured was great) and... it is!

Tim is my favorite, and he gives me presents year round. for example, two weeks ago he gave me my "christmas present" a DVD of That's Entertainment and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. The former is extremely sentimental to me and reminds me so much of my amazing Grandmother who introduced me to all the classic MGM's and the latter is well just hilariously amazing.

last night and today SUCKED. I took one of the hardest exams of my life on about 2.5 hours of sleep. I went to the exam feeling like i needed to puke, but had to forge forward.

I am just sooooooo glad to be done. I have two more exams but they will be cake compared to that.

anywho, got home and got an e-mail that 2 of the Gottfreid Helnwein books I had been waiting for arrived at the library. Even though it was school related, and i had sworn off all studying for the night, I knew that I should go and get them because I wouldn't have much time during the rest of the week.

well, I could not have made a better decision.

Picked up the books and the one I was mostly anticipating, The Child, was fucking signed by Helnwein!!!!!!!!

oh man, it totally made my night. I smiled all the way home and have been laying in bed making love to it (so to speak) since. It is such a beautiful book with so many images I have never seen.

i find myself listening to TOP 20 radio more then anything else in the car. It's easy, doesn't require any sort of thought, its catchy, more often than not it is something you can get your groove on to, so really... what's not to love? I will often think to myself, "geez, this has to be the worst song i have ever heard," but the thing about pop music is, who cares?? We all know that most of these people aren't famous or rich for there invaluable ability to create melodic and thoughtful music, but it is there ability to pump out formulaic, catchy, frivilous music. who gives a shit?

in netflix streaming news:

SKINS

Miranda first introduced this show to me a few months back, but I only got to see about 20 minutes of one episode and wasn't initially hooked. Recently however, it was recommended to me on netflix, and in case you didn't know, I do what the netflix gods tell me to. To make a not so long story even shorter... I started watching and didn't stop for about 9 hours.

This show single handedly destroyed my goal of going to sleep at a decent time the night before classes started again. Instead, I stayed up until 4:30 am until I had finished the finale to the 1st season.

So, anyways, the show... Each episode follows one character and delves a little deeper into their background and who they are. We basically learn the following about each character:

*how fucked up their parents are
*who they are fucking or have fucked or will fuck
*what their ass, dick or tits look like (yes, that is right, that is what i said. thank you BBC!)
*what kind of pills they are taking
*what they look and sound like when vomiting
*what mental disorders they suffer from
*or maybe even *gasp* they are VIRGINS (thats right Sid, i'm talking about you buddy)

this poor kid has everyone and their mother trying to get him laid, even if it means making their own girlfriends doink him. At least he isn't nailing the Psych teacher (that one was for you Chris).

This show is awesome. Any show that makes you REALLY uncomfortable for about 44 mins uninterupted gets my kudos. There are so many cringe worthy moments, and I can't get enough.

well happy belated holidays kids. not like anybody gives a shit. holidays means good food, good booze and pointless gifts. everyone who I love knows it, and gifts on Christ's birthday doesn't prove shit. that being said, i still love the ridiculous decor and festiveness of holidays, but that is just the because of the Kitch Queen that lives in me.

anyways, at work (despite the complaints of several co-workers, who shall go un-named) we have been listening to A LOT of the 90's station on XM radio. For those of you who have access to the station, start listening NOW and never stop. Even those who were resistant at first have warmed up to it. It is truly amazing, and you learn to love the worst of the decade. I will admit, I have been subject to a kitchen sing-a-long of "Satellite" by Dave Matthews. I know! SHOOT ME!

I can't seem to focus on studying for Latin (what else is new).

I just finished my ONLY paper of the semester. Can you fucking believe it! ONE PAPER, for an Art History major, none the less. As always, I was pretty late in the game with starting, but after about 2 days straight of reading/analyzing/writing I was able to create something quasi-interesting and intelligent sounding. If anything it got me totally stoked for my schedule next semester which will include 4 Art History courses, 3 of which have writing emphasis. Be ready for the nerd to emerge, because so far I have been VERY reserved.

I am still not sure where my main interest in the field lies, but it really isn't too important for me since I most likely won't be continuing my education to stay in a University/academic setting. While my grandpa is adamant about me getting my Ph.D, I just nod my head and smile (ha.).

This winter break my main focus will be to read ALL the things on me "READ THIS SHIT" list and sleep. seriously, I need to eat for 2 days straight and find a cave to nestle in for about a month. After a full semester of close to no work and very little inspiration, I am scared to death of the thought of actually being a "real" student again. I need to start a new, and drop all the awful habits I acquired these past few months. Unfortunately, that might mean ending my netflix subscription ( the HORROR!).

ANYWAYS, who wants to start a new movement with me?

after a week of reading and writing about 20th century manifestos I really want to make one of my/our own. so friends, peers, artists/scientists/writers alike (you know who you are) lets brainstorm and start a revolution.

Las Vegas was amazing.

Going to vegas with your mom (who, I might add, is not keen on drinking or gambling) may sound like a drag, but believe you me, it was amazing! We had soooooo much fun. We stayed at the Trump Towers. HOLY SHIT. most amazing room ever! terry cloth robes, tea kettle, art books, huge comfy bed, hot tub, and... a fuckin' TV in the bathroom mirror!!!! I'm not kidding. I will have pictures soon.

We pretty much spent the next 2 1/2 days walking the strip. we hit up EVERY hotel and casino. I finally convinced myself to invest in some nice shoes and indulged myself in some Clark's.

I got these and another pair of men's lowrise desert boots. love 'em.

I think my mom was baffled by my knowledge of alcohol, like that I actually had drink preferences (Gin of course). She gave me a few concerned looks throughout the day as I continued to order drinks. She was amazed I never got drunk. uh yeah prob because I never had more then 2 drinks in an hour, or 6 drinks in a day. {I hope this doesn't make me seem like a total alchy}.

anyways, i'll sum it up with a list (as i do best)
*$8 well drinks no matter where you go, WTF???

*california pizza kitchen, delicious

*me asking my mom "do i look like i need a hooker that bad?"

*had to pee soooo painfully bad throughout the show but resisted the urge because I didn't want to miss a thing!

*mom and i got sleepy and rented the Hangover (which apparently she had seen and loved) for $13(!!!) in the hotel room.

Twas a great trip, even after about 5 hours of delays at the airport, but with everything said and done I need a shirt that reads...

yep folks, i got the dreaded swine.

well actually i'm not %100 sure it was the swine because they wont let you go into the doctor, but I was prescribed meds over the phone and I feel soooo much better. I'm on day 3 of solitary confinement in my room, and I only have a few more hours of being feverless before I am not contagious.

i have been overwhelmingly uninspired as of late.

after registering for classes, i realize that i will have NO life next semester, because, guess what...

so now i am doubling up my schedule.
it's a good/scary thing. i need to get off my ass.

just picked up the FEBRUARY issue of W magazine (I know I'm a bit late with this, but that comes with depending on bookman's for my magazine supply). Brad Pitt demanded that Chuck Close be the one to photograph him for the cover and spread. The result is nothing less than AMAZING. He still has his Inglourious Basterds haircut. mmmmmmm.

I've felt unbelievably bored lately, by everything really. Not to say that I haven't been doing anything or that I haven't been busy as shit, but at the end of everyday I find myself saying. "what did i even do today??"

anyways, i hate to be a whiny bitch, so a few things.

1.
I partied at the seasons the other night. and for those of you who don't know what that is...
Imagine a five star resort in vegas, LITTERED with empty Keystone and Busch 30 racks, full to the brim with kids you thought (i emphasize this because as much as these kids annoy the shit out of me, they are so dumb their smart, and they are ALWAYS down to party, so really, whats not to love??) you hated in college. oh yeah, and Stripper poles!

despite it being a complete 360 from my normal scene, I had a fuckin' blast. everyone pretty much keeps there doors open and you go from apartment to apartment taking jello shots and drinking bottomless amounts of liquor. we got wasted and it was awesome. I had no idea that was where we would end up that night, and i stuck out like a sore thumb with my torn dress, rip-off Members Only jacket and shredded birkenstocks. I was the bell of the ball.

A few nights ago I went to my amigo, Nick Bunch's art opening. He is truly truly talented and I suggest everyone go check it out. It is a joint show with another amazingly talented artist (Amanda Pants) and it will be up for the next month or so at the Center for Creative Chaos, right next to Epic on 4th ave. GO!

aside from that, schools alright, works a bore but thank god for cool co-workers and I'll be 21 in 2 weeks. But for right now, I got a date with some sweatpants, some cigarettes and some crosswords.

Yesterday Jacque and I had a glutenous spree and spent a shit load money, ate a shit ton of food, and did a shit load of nothing. we feel like shit.

The day started by driving to Pheonix in a borrowed mini-van to IKEA. We got there about 5 mins after they opened and spent the next two hours gleefully skipping around and throwing things in our cart. In the end (as we always do) we tried to convince each other out of buying ridiculous un-necessities. we walked out both spending a lot, but of stuff we had needed and come for in the first place, (a bookcase and curtains for myself).

Next, we made the decision that would fate us... going to ARIZONA FUCKIN' MILLS...
For those of you who don't know, Arizona Mills is an obscenely huge outmall, that sucks you in and spits you out like Robin Williams in Jumanji... Cold, Unshaven, and on copious amounts of crack.

We met up with her Grandpa he treated us to lunch at the Rainforrest Cafe (amazing!) Instead of watching the animals burst out into mating calls every ten minutes, I examined a much more interesting species... The pregnant white trash mothers who takes her kids out to lunch and orders Mango flavored margaritas in glasses with flashing bottoms and gigantic plates of nachos. quite intriguing.

We had a few hours to kill before meeting up with her grandma so we chose to see the Hangover. The Hangover was the perfect movie to see because watching it involves very little, if any brain activity. I sat there and laughed relentlessly for 90 mins at shit that is so NOT funny, its FUNNY. There were several moments when Jacque and I looked at each other and shook our heads in dissapointment, "That was just tooo much..." but Secretly I was dying of laughter inside.

Well we were feeling like total JAPS (you know, of the jewish persuassion) and then we saw a Japanese photo booth at Gameworks. This machine bascially gives you ecstasy and takes the most amazing pictures of you. After your done, you get to dec them out with graphics and letters and hearts and stars and glitter and creatures. the result is this...

So I guess this is really just like livejournal. but livejournal is for 24 year old women who love their cats and 13 year old emo boys. There are some pretty great file sharing communities though, so... kudos for the livejournal. but other than that it sucks. There is no sense of humor, and more importantly, no sense of IRONY, which is my forte.

I love lookin at ridic blogs, so i figure why not give it a go myself. can't be too hard.
